Chaas

Chaas or buttermilk is a refreshing and healthy yogurt-based drink that is commonly consumed in India and Pakistan. It is a great way to cool down during hot summer days and aids digestion.
Here's a simple recipe for chaas:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Fresh mint leaves, chopped (optional)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the plain yogurt until smooth.
  2. Gradually add cold water to the bowl, whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  3. Add cumin powder, black pepper powder, and salt to the mixture, and whisk well.
  4. Add chopped mint leaves (optional) and mix well.
  5. Serve chilled with ice cubes, if desired.

Note: 

You can adjust the consistency of the chaas by adding more or less water, depending on your preference. For a thicker consistency, use less water. For a thinner consistency, use more water. You can also use a hand blender to make the chaas frothy. Chaas is also commonly consumed with a pinch of roasted cumin powder on top for added flavor.
